Today's ride is steep. Lots of cliff roads and switchbacks with grade +9% or more. It was slow going but I have all day to do it. Only two more riding days after this until I am in San Francisco.

My left hamstring starts acting up, funny how yesterday it was the right. I stop to rest and stretch three times on today's ride but nothing seems to help, I'm out of ibuprofen.

The sharp hills of Sonoma county at what my friends and family probably warned me about when I embarked on this trip. No shoulder, no railing, and a sheer fall off the cliff. Thankfully the view was spectacular and I was able to stay on the road comfortably.

Tomorrow three friends are going to come out and camp my last night with me: Kanaad , Lukas, and Robert. Super excited! The end is near and I'm overjoyed to be done, but a little uneasy to give up the simplicity of the last 20 days.

In bodega bay I talk to Sandro, outside of the grocery store. He used to cycling and switched to weight filtering when he started a family and a business: Possum Brewery. He gives me a free beer and some well wishes. Thanks Sandro, you helped immensely!

Time and time again I am amazed by the kindness of strangers. Nearly every day of this trip has involved one person coming up to me to ask about my journey. Where are you going? How far did you ride today? Are you doing it alone? Everyone is interested and excited and share enthusiasm for my adventure - a total stranger. I am so grateful to each person who stopped and said hello, asked, and gave advice about the roads ahead. It gave me confidence to continue on.

After getting some clam chowder and a crab sandwich, I roll into the campground and find my friend Mike again! Nice to bump into a friendly face again. He tells me about getting stormed on when I was sheltering in Elk with Judy. He unfortunately had to leave the campground and get a hotel to dry his clothes and tent.

It is hard to tell whether I have under or over stretched my hamstring, but the top of my calf muscle, behind the knee, and my lower hand string, above the knee, are feeling over worked. Hopefully the stretch and ibuprofen will propel me to the end.
